EDUMINDS ® Magnificent Manager 

About the course

This course is designed to assist persons in management or leadership positions to better understand themselves and their employees by applying appropriate leadership techniques as well as using emotional intelligence as a method of empowerment to themselves and staff alike.

This course will also assist managers in identifying stress and time wasting factors and how to counter these effectively. They will learn the essence of coaching and mentoring their staff in order to create a more receptive, productive employee as well as being able to provide specific career planning for each of their staff members.

Lastly this course will assist the manager in understanding and applying successful conflict management. EDUMINDS takes the manager from mediocre to magnificent.

Session 1: Going from mediocre to magnificent

  • Explaining the concept of leadership.
  • Differentiating between leadership and management.
  • Analysing and comparing leadership theories and functions.
  • Applying the different roles and qualities of leadership in a work context. 
  • Using different management strategies for integration of people and processes to achieve goals.

Session 2: Essentials of leadership: coaching & mentoring 

  • Explaining the concept of coaching and mentoring.
  • Describing the characteristics of a good mentor and coach.
  • Explaining the importance of knowledge in mentoring.
  • Applying skills and techniques required for a mentor.
  • Understand what it takes to become a good mentor and coach.
  • Applying effective communication skills.
  • Handle problems and challenges in this environment.

Session 3: Stress & Time Management

  • Explaining stress and its role in daily living.
  • Explaining different levels in which people react to stress.
  • Identifying stressors in the workplace and their relationship to work performance.
  • Identifying the effects that stress has on our bodies.
  • Investigating techniques to manage stress.
  • Identifying time management profiles.
  • Understanding the principles of time management.
  • Drawing up time efficient work plans to carry out department/division/section work functions.
  • Implementing time efficient work plans.
  • Apply time management techniques.
  • Identify time wasters action plan to eliminate them.
  • Prioritisation through a fun filled board game called “What’s on the clock?"

  • Identify types of conflict and where you find yourself and your team
  • Dealing with difficult co-workers and transform the negativity into positive behaviour
  • State and explain the difference between feelings and actual problem
  • Identifying the difference between destructive and constructive situations
  • Handle and resolve a conflict in the workplace 
  • Understanding the correlation between emotions, the brain and stress
  • Implementing a strategy to resolve conflict
