bills of exchange, documentary credit) and focusing on the process of a letter of credit.
- Understanding foreign exchange contracts and the different rates being bought and sold from the bank
- Moving Cargo
- Looking at ocean freight, air freight and road freight as modes of transport. Focusing
on documentation, types of carriers, chargeable weight calculations, containerization,
types of services and common charges of all modes.
- Weight, volume and load restrictions of all modes, transport documentation and consolidating cargo
- Being able to consult with client on choosing the correct mode of transport
- Looking at different containerization, specification of packing, packaging, marking andlabeling.
- Basic overview of hazardous cargo classes, packing groups, UN numbers and documentation required.
- Incoterms
- Looking at cost, risk & control for the buyer and seller with regards to customs clearance, delivery obligations, VAT implications, mode of transport, importance of wording and where the freight forwarder fits in.

- building a billing sheet through a case study
- Marine Insurance
- Understanding the basics of marine insurance, calculation of premiums, the different institute clauses and insurance terminology
- understanding the concept of insurance, claims procedures and segregation of hazardous

- The role of customs and understanding the different sections and schedules. Looking at different types of duties, entry types, harmonized system & codes, calculation of duties and customs VAT.
